Members

David Chiel – is Deputy Vice President of the Ford Foundation. He has held assignments as Program Officer in Bangladesh and Namibia; as the Foundation’s Representative in the Philippines; and as Deputy to the Vice President of the Foundation’s program in Knowledge, Creativity & Freedom.

Mohammed Dahle - is a civil rights attorney and former Chair of Adalah, the Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel and former Vice Chair of the Association for Civil Rights in Israel. He is the first Palestinian citizen of Israel to clerk for an Israeli Supreme Court Justice and to sit on the directorate of a state corporation authority.

Itzik Galnoor - is the Herbert Samuel Professor of Political Science at Hebrew University of Jerusalem. From 1994-1996, he served as Head of the Israel Civil Service Commission. He has served on the Israel Science Foundation's Executive Committee since 2001 and on the Governing Board of Hebrew University of Jerusalem since 2003. In 2007 he was appointed head of the Israeli Council for Higher Education.

Tamar Herman – is the Dean of Academic Studies at the Open University and Academic Director of the Tami Steinmetz Center for Peace Research at the Tel Aviv University. Her current academic fields of interest are: extra-parliamentary movements and social protest, peace activism, public opinion and foreign policymaking.

Edna Ullman-Margalit – is Professor of Philosophy at the departments of philosophy and of education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She is former Vice President of the New Israel Fund and former Chair of The Association for Civil Rights in Israel.

Shimon Shamir – is Head of the Institute for Diplomacy and Regional Cooperation at Tel Aviv University. He served as Israel’s ambassador to Egypt (1988-1990) and as first ambassador to Jordan (1995-1997). He was appointed by PM Barak to the Orr Commission of Inquiry (2001-2003) which investigated clashes between the police and Palestinian Israeli citizens.

Aida Touma Sleiman – is Director of Nazareth-based organization Women Against Violence and a leader within the Palestinian Israeli women’s and peace movement. She was a 2005 Nobel Peace Prize nominee.

Eliezer Yaari – is the New Israel Fund’s Director in Israel. Following the 1967 war, he joined the Israeli Air Force, where he served as a combat pilot. He then joined the staff of the Israel Broadcasting Authority and in 1992 became director of Programs. Yaari studied Public Administration as a Wexner Fellow at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
