With our board leadership, our new CEO, Daniel Sokatch, and our new-to-the-position Executive Director in Israel, Rachel Liel, asking for a comprehensive review of our principles, policies and procedures, both staff and board knew that this meeting would represent a serious set of discussions and decisions. The Battle for Israel’s Soul In a demonstration of support for the New Israel Fund and the values it shares with activists around Israel, leading Israeli thinkers and artists participated last month in a one-day NIF Symposium: “The Only Democracy in the Middle East? The Battle for Israel’s Soul”. Held in Jaffa with more than 500 people in attendance, the Symposium provided a very public platform to emphasize and endorse the NIF agenda. MORE> New Israel Fund Social Leadership Award Awarded to Dov Lautman The opening event of the 2010 NIF Board meeting was held at the Rabin Center in Tel Aviv. It was combined with a ceremony for the first annual New Israel Fund Social Leadership Award that was bestowed upon prominent business leader Dov Lautman in recognition of his inspiring leadership and extraordinary contribution to Israeli society, promoting social justice and equality in Israel.
